Kontrapunkt has been asked to design and stage a series of events for the world’s leading ship and offshore classification society. Under the motto “150 Years – Year One” DNV GL this year celebrates the 150th anniversary of Det Norske Veritas (DNV) and the one-year anniversary of the merger of DNV and Germanischer Lloyd (GL). As part of the celebrations to mark the anniversary the Hamburg-based live-communications agency organised a variety of events for the clients and employees of the German-Norwegian company as well as for press representatives. Among the highlights were the festive evening events in Hamburg and Oslo.
Festive evenings in Hamburg and Oslo featuring international artists
To celebrate the anniversary of DNV GL in Hamburg in June, Kontrapunkt chose to stage the event in the historic fish auction hall located right in the port. Guests enjoyed a lively evening with a wide range of artistic performances, exquisite cuisine, music and dance. Henrik Madsen, CEO of the DNV GL Group, welcomed the approximately 500 DNV GL guests from Norway and Hamburg, among them Hamburg’s First Mayor, Olaf Scholz, who pointed out the economic importance of DNV GL for Hamburg. The show programme featured the singer and songwriter, Madeline Juno, and sand painter, Natalya Netselya, among others.
In Oslo, too, Kontrapunkt was able to win the hearts of the international guests when Andreas Kümmert, winner of the most recent series of “The Voice of Germany”, climbed the stage. The agency from Hamburg-Winterhude once again bet on a newcomer on the German music scene who turned out to be one of the highlights of the jubilee event. The festive venue in Oslo was a multi-purpose hall installed by DNV GL on a pontoon in the Fjord of Høvik.
Events to inform about the strategic re-orientation of DNV GL
Kontrapunkt kicked off the anniversary year of DNV GL in May already when it staged the “Maritime Convention” in Travemünde, Schleswig-Holstein. The focus of the two-day conference, held for the staff of the maritime division of DNV GL, was on the development of measures concerning the strategic re-orientation of DNV GL. At the same time, the event under the motto “One” offered the opportunity to foster employee bonding and team building. The joint erection of scaffolding on the beach at Travemünde, followed by a team photo session was the perfect conclusion to the Maritime Convention 2014.
DNV GL’s “Strategic Content Project” and the “Innovation Day” at the maritime headquarters in Hamburg were aimed at presenting the strategic re-orientation of the classification society: Kontra-punkt designed a bespoke trade fair setting that showed, in an interactive way, the strategic objec-tives of the company and set up a stage for the society to hold presentations to clients, journalists and staff. Until year-end DNV GL has a range of other anniversary events planned, which it asked Kontrapunkt to help design and stage.
