When popular host Barbara Schöneberger, clad in a stunning dress and star pianist Lang Lang sing the praises of men, actress Katrin Sass raves about how confident tigers are and Til Schweiger plays tennis against Boris Becker in a tuxedo, the Komische Oper in Berlin once again lives up to its name [Komische Oper literally translates as “Comedy Opera”]. A throng of celebrities walked the red carpet for the GQ Men of the Year Awards 2015, making the event hosted by publisher Condé Nast the place to be for anyone looking for a night of entertainment and celebration. With her spontaneity and a healthy amount of self-mockery the host, Barbara Schöneberger, as usual enchanted all guests and charmingly made sure that all artists invited to the stage had their moment of glory – among them Tom Jones, Daniel Brühl, Bryan Adams and the Fantastischen Vier [Fantastic Four]. Agentur Kontrapunkt from Hamburg made sure that the glow of the ceremony carried over to the after-party that lasted well into the morning hours.

“The art lies in making what is visible look easy and natural”

For Kontrapunkt lightness and naturalness play a big role when it comes to creating successful events. “Award winners, guests and, of course, the event organisers themselves are the centre of attention at the gala. The challenge is to offer all these diverse groups entertainment of the finest off the stage, too. The art lies in making what is visible look easy and natural,” Harald Böttcher, Managing Director of Kontrapunkt, explains. The agency’s secrets are the perfect co-ordination of processes throughout and a well-tuned team – be it after-party, guest management or the creation of a world of luxury for sponsors such as BMW, HTC, Samsonite or Boss. To handle invitations, seating and check-in, Kontrapunkt once again relied on its own participant management system called kon² (konquadrat).
