The fact that the Federal Chancellor went from the World Cup final in Brazil straight to Berlin to at-tend the summer festival of Germany’s public-service broadcaster, ZDF, clearly shows just how high public interest is in the event. Apart from Dr Angela Merkel, more than 800 representatives from politics, business, media and culture accepted the invitation by Bettina Schausten, Head of the ZDF’s main studio and ZDF’s Director, Dr Thomas Bellut, and came to Berlin. Kontrapunkt created the perfect ambience: the Hamburg-based live-communications agency converted the interior courtyard of the Museum of Contemporary Art, Hamburger Bahnhof, into an open-air festival ground where guests could mingle and talk or share information in a relaxed atmosphere and enjoy the entertainment offered. The catering by Sarah Wiener, a television chef, and the live performances of various artists provided food for all senses.
ZDF holds its annual get-together, the ZDF Sommertreff, in the federal capital to give guests the opportunity to share ideas and experiences in an informal setting. “We wanted to create an enjoyable yet distinguished setting for the event that gave people the opportunity to have one-on-one talks and network. The interior courtyard of Hamburger Bahnhof was the perfect location,” Harald Böttcher, Managing Director of Kontrapunkt, summarised the event.
Other well-known guests were Klaus Wowereit, Governing Mayor of Berlin; Renate Künast and Katrin Göring-Eckardt, politicians of Alliance ‘90/Green Party (Bündnis 90/Die Grünen); former Federal Defence Minister, Franz Josef Jung; former national football player, Thomas Hitzlsperger as well as the German actors Jan Josef Liefers with his wife, Anna Loos, Christine Neubauer, Anja Kling, Claudia Michelsen and Dominic Raacke.
